European badgers are nocturnal, social diggers, known for their extensive underground burrows which can house multiple generations and have many exits. They are omnivores, with a diet heavy in earthworms but also including insects, fruit, and small mammals. Badgers are surprisingly clean, using designated latrine areas and even burying their dead, and possess a thick skin and strong claws.
